We have excellent links with special educational schools across England and have visited over 180 schools across Surrey as part of the SCALES project. Collaboration with schools and education partners is vital to our work and we are so grateful to all of the schools who make our research possible.
We are grateful to schools and families for hosting our research. All of our research team have enhanced DBS clearance and experience of working with children. We work with schools/parents to fit with busy timetables and to ensure children enjoy the experience.
SCALES is the first population study of language development from school entry in the UK. The study aims to improve identification of children with developmental language disorder at school entry, and to better understand how language impacts social, behavioural, and academic development over the first few years of school.
